George Dickie (philosopher)
George Dickie (born 1926 in Palmetto, Florida) is a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at University of Illinois at Chicago.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=George Dickie faculty page )〕 His specialties include aesthetics, philosophy of art, & Eighteenth Century theories of taste.
==Education and career==
He received a BA from Florida State University in 1949 and a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1959.〔 He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1978.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=1978 U.S. and Canadian Fellows )〕
He served as President of the Illinois Philosophy Association (1990-91) and President of the American Society for Aesthetics (1993-94).
